"I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. I seek to develop whatever talents God gave me—not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any earthly master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say – 'This, with God's help, I have done.' All this is what it means to be an American." -"My Creed" by Dean Alfange

A Legacy Worth Preserving

Nostalgia: obsolescence turned into memories.  A young Millennial afflicted by a lack of desire to keep up (per accelerated modern terms anyway) left a burning fire in the back of the mind that grew into a desire that, once the means became available, to relive those times in a more ideal setting that could not be afforded back in youth.  Is there a new life in the old?

This is a hobby project as the demands of work and family remain prime.  Writing this now, at the beginning, there is a particular set of themes in mind, yet also the contemplation that this could go in any direction over time.  Such is what can occur when covering a variety of topics but, as this is a hobby interest, the desire is to keep focus on the topics of US military history, retro gaming, and especially wherever the two happen to meet.

"Baron" is a choice term, screenname inspired by Baron Soontir Fel from the Star Wars Expanded Universe, a character whose commitment to noble traits transcended his loyalty to causes in a war as he fought at certain points for both sides.  The United States Constitution bans titles, but certainly not traits, of nobility.  Only under immutable standard can absolute judgment be made; all else is open to interpretation while bias is not necessarily undue or unfair.

Humanity is a fallen creature due to sin, only redeemable through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.  There is no understanding without faith; Christianity is the only faith acknowledging the truth that one cannot earn his/her own way to heaven.  That salvation is possible proves the unfathomable love of our Creator God despite our lack of love for Him.  Love for our fellow man, doing what is right even if it leads to them hating us, is expected of every Christian.
